First responders and spill response equipment may be seen on the North Thompson River this week as Trans Mountain conducts a land and water training exercise. In a statement posted on the City of Kamloops website, Trans Mountain said the planned response exercise will take place on Tuesday, July 21, and Wednesday, July 22. “Trans Mountain personnel, first responders and invited representatives from government agencies and Indigenous communities will participate in or observe the exercise.” Trans Mountain said people might notice response crews, boats, trailers or equipment at Westsyde Centennial Park and the boat launch located on Harrington Road and Overlander Drive.
