Sanctions and other measures would be imposed on the Russian Federation under legislation introduced on July 16 by U.S. Sen. Jerry Moran (R-KS). “This legislation would make a difference against Russia’s unjust war in Ukraine,” said Sen. Moran, who is one of 61 original cosponsors of the bipartisan Sanctioning Russia Act of 2026, S. 5025, which is sponsored by U.S. Sen. Darline Graham (R-SC) and lead cosponsor U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT). “The White House has taken an important step in endorsing this long-standing legislation,” continued Sen. Moran. “The message is clear to friends and foe alike: you can do business with Russia or the United States, but not both.” The legislation has been referred to the U.S. Senate Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Committee for consideration.
