Colorado Trout Unlimited’s “Troutfest” at Coors Field on June 27 was attended by several thousand engaged and enthusiastic hunters-angler-conservationists! The venue and Colorado Backcountry Hunters & Anglers booth were busy all day. Troutfest attendees I talked to learned that BHA was founded by a former Trout Unlimited employee, Mike Beagle, and that Colorado Backcountry Hunters & Anglers was started by another former Trout Unlimited employee, Durango resident David “Elkheart” Petersen. During the early 2000s David Petersen was Trout Unlimited’s Colorado Roadless Coordinator.
