When Summit County started its 2026 budget process last year, the initial forecast predicted a $7.5 million deficit in the general fund.
The county faces a forecasted deficit a little more than half of last year’s to start its 2027 budget process.
Those decreases in revenue are being partially offset by higher-than-budgeted revenues from charges for services and miscellaneous revenue, Reynolds said.
“Building permits, planning permits, that stuff continues to pace right along in Summit County and is right now on pace to exceed budget,” Reynolds said.
With lower revenues and higher expenditures than the budget, the forecast expects the county to end 2026 with a general fund deficit of about $1.7 million.
