The Mavericks are waiving Tyler Smith, reports Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (via Twitter). Facing a roster crunch last fall, the Bucks decided to waive the former G League Ignite forward shortly before the 2025/26 season even though he was on a guaranteed standard contract. Smith spent about a month on a two-way deal with Houston before being cut in early January. He made 12 appearances (13.8 MPG) for the Mavs down the stretch of last season, averaging 4.7 PPG and 2.8 RPG on .420/.286/.667 shooting splits. Smith also played in 33 total G League games (26.7 MPG) in 2025/26 for the Capital City Go-Go, Rio Grande Valley Vipers and Texas Legends.
