In response to the deferment request, the UNCDP sought details of the specific measures Bangladesh intends to undertake. The draft plan has since been circulated among relevant ministries and will be finalised soon before submission to the UNCDP and other international bodies. The country’s application and its proposed transition measures are scheduled for discussion today and tomorrow at the ECOSOC meeting at the UN headquarters in New York. The proposed measures and responsibilities assigned to ministries and agencies are indicative and will be refined through consultations with stakeholders before finalisation. The draft also calls for digitising public services, strengthening anti-corruption measures and parliamentary oversight, and promoting more transparent and accountable institutions.
