NORTH DAKOTA – Two North Dakota electricity cooperatives receive FEMA funding to recover from recent natural disasters. Nodak Electric Coop in Grand Forks has gotten more than $334,000 and Northern Plains Electric Coop in Carrington and Cando have gotten $348,000 to repair infrastructure and get reimbursed for costs to ensure public health and safety. Severe storms including tornadoes and straight-line winds struck North Dakota on June 20 and 21, 2025. “FEMA disburses this money to states and local communities because they are best positioned to know how these funds will be most effectively spent,” FEMA said in a press release.
