WASHINGTON – The United States Department of Veterans Affairs gives North Dakota $710,550 for the Highly Rural Transportation Grant program that gives free rides for veterans to V.A. and V.A.-authorized health care facilities. North Dakota Senator Kevin Cramer introduced the Supporting Rural Veterans Access to Healthcare Services Act to reauthorize the program which is supported by the North Dakota Department of Veterans Affairs, Disabled American Veterans, Wounded Warrior Project, Veterans of Foreign Wars and The American Legion. The program serves 35 counties including Adams, Benson, Billings, Bottineau, Bowman, Burke, Cavalier, Dickey, Divide, Dunn, Eddy, Emmons, Foster, Golden Valley, Grant, Griggs, Hettinger, Kidder, Lamoure, Logan, McHenry, Mcintosh, McKenzie, McLean, Nelson, Oliver, Pierce, Renville, Sargent, Sheridan, Sioux, Slope, Steele, Towner, and Wells.
