Archbishop Maurice Muhatia Makumba has cautioned against neglecting youths, saying that failing to pay attention to the needs of young people is not only reckless but “tragically irresponsible.” The July 19–26 Assembly has brought together more than 100 Bishops and delegates from across the AMECEA region under the theme, “AMECEA's Synodal Journey with Young People: Building Bridges of Communion, Hope, Justice and Good Governance.” In his address, the Kenyan Catholic Bishop said, “With this theme, AMECEA wants to listen more attentively to what the Spirit is telling us through the vibrancy and vitality that comes with a youthful society. Not to pay attention to youthful society not only smacks of recklessness but is also tragically irresponsible.”
