A three-year-old girl drowned in a swimming pool during a family holiday in Majorca, an inquest has heard. Eleri Ellesmere was discovered unresponsive in the water at their private villa near the town of Pollensa on the evening of 24 June. The toddler was taken by ambulance to the Spanish island's main hospital, 44 miles (70km) away in the capital, Palma. Gwent Coroner's Court heard that family members and later paramedics both attempted CPR before Eleri was taken to the Hospital Universitari Son Espases. Hemmings wrote that "Eleri was deeply loved, and her loss has left an unimaginable emptiness in all of our lives".
