Cuba, along with Vietnam and Brazil, led an event at the UN to promote the right to development and demand an end to unilateral coercive measures as an obstacle to the 2030 Agenda. Ambassador Ernesto Soberón represented Cuba at the side event on the right to development at the United Nations headquarters. The main objective was to analyze how the right to development can catalyze inclusive global partnerships and accelerate the implementation of the 2030 Agenda. During the debate, the panelists agreed that the right to development is an essential instrument for promoting a more just and equitable international order, based on strengthening multilateralism and rejecting unilateral coercive measures. The announcement on July 13 of additional coercive measures is a clear manifestation of the criminal and genocidal intent with which U.S. rulers are determined to punish the entire population of the country.”
