Women’s water polo opened the agenda of the Santo Domingo 2026 Central American and Caribbean Games, marking the debut of teams that overcome humanitarian and logistical adversities to compete in the regional event.
On Monday, water polo kicked off the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026, four days before the opening ceremony.
RELATED:DR To Host the Central American and Caribbean Games in 2026The matches between the Venezuelan and Mexican women’s teams took place in the pool at the Juan Pablo Duarte Olympic Center, the main venue for the competition.
A total of 15 matches will be played in the preliminary round of women’s water polo until Friday, with the participation of Venezuela, Mexico, Colombia, Cuba, Puerto Rico, and Guatemala.
The 25th Central American and Caribbean Games will conclude on August 8 in the Dominican Republic, bringing together more than 5,000 athletes from 37 countries competing in 40 sports, most of them in the Dominican capital.
