With the fresh casualties, the death toll from the rain-induced disaster in the twin border districts of Rajouri and Poonch climbed to 21. Officials and eye-witnesses said that seven people were killed when a flash flood-triggered landslide buried a residential house in the remote Loran area of Poonch district. Battling rain, unstable debris and difficult terrain, rescuers worked for several hours before retrieving all seven bodies from the rubble.
