High street giant collapses with £16m debt after Liverpool store closed

Video game retailer GAME, which operated as many as 300 stores at its peak, has entered administration once again, with debts of £16m.
Founded in 1990, GAME grew to become the UK's leading high street retailer for video games and gaming consoles.
The move followed the closure of its long-standing store on Liverpool's Lord Street on Sunday, June 29, 2025.
GAME later returned as a downsized concept as part of the new revamped Sports Direct location on Lord Street.
They said: "The Game brand was originally established in 1990 and developed into the UK's leading high street retailer of video games and consoles.
