Handwara, Jul 20: MLA Langate Sheikh Khursheed on Monday locked the Public Health Engineering, PHE, Sub Division office at Handwara LFR after allegedly finding the office without any officials or employees present during a scheduled visit to discuss drinking water issues affecting several areas of the Langate constituency. However, upon reaching the office, the MLA claimed that none of the officers or employees were present despite prior intimation. He was joined by several Awami Ittehad Party workers, women, and local residents, who raised slogans and demanded accountability from the department over the continued drinking water crisis. The MLA also alleged that funds had already been made available for improving potable drinking water facilities in various parts of the constituency. They also assured him that necessary steps would be taken to address the drinking water issues raised by the delegation and improve the functioning of the department.
