Srinagar, Jul 20: Doctors and paramedical staff at Government Medical College (GMC) Baramulla on Monday suspended services for several hours, alleging that a group of attendants assaulted healthcare workers inside the hospital on Saturday. In a joint representation addressed to the Principal, Dean and Medical Superintendent, the resident doctors said repeated incidents of assault, intimidation and threats by patients' attendants have created an atmosphere of fear, making it increasingly difficult for doctors to perform their duties. Three accused persons were apprehended, following which an FIR was registered. He also appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and the GMC Baramulla administration to conduct a time-bound inquiry, strengthen hospital security, deploy adequate police personnel and initiate strict legal action against those responsible. Meanwhile, Baramulla police have registered FIR No.
