Chugh targets Omar over protest amid flood crisis

Chugh, during a meeting in New Delhi with J&K BJP President Sat Sharma and Rajya Sabha MP Er Ghulam Ali Khatana, said several areas, including Rajouri and Poonch, were facing a humanitarian crisis, with families displaced and lives lost due to the recent weather-related incidents.
“Instead of leading rescue and relief operations, Omar Abdullah has chosen political optics over public duty,” Chugh said, alleging that the government had failed to prioritise the suffering of people.
He claimed that the BJP had cancelled its proposed protest programme in Srinagar in view of the flood situation and deputed senior leaders, including Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma and former J&K BJP president Ravinder Raina, to visit affected areas and assess the situation.
Chugh said the party believes that “service to people comes before politics” and accused the National Conference of attempting to divert attention from relief and rehabilitation efforts.
He further alleged that the people of Jammu and Kashmir would hold the Omar Abdullah-led government accountable for its response during the crisis.
