The Junior Champions Cup ended in bright sunshine and steady winds at the Fastnet Marine & Outdoor Education Centre, Schull, West Cork on Sunday, 21 September, after light airs delayed Saturday’s opener.
William Walsh and Eoin Byrne from Dún Laoghaire secured silver, while defending champions Cora Naughton and Isha Duggan placed third.
Irish Sailing Racing Manager Stephen O’Shaughnessy said the competition showed “an array of talent coming through the youth system”.
He praised competitors for handling a one-design dinghy, the TR3.6, a purpose-built two-person team racing dinghy that many had never sailed before.
Race Officer Nigel Biggs and a team of umpires, mark layers and safety staff were thanked for running the event “with military precision”.
