— The board of trustees held a public hearing Monday, Sept. 8 about the township’s special assessments for fire, police and garbage removal. Voters were given the choice to keep it as a special assessment or to make it a voted on millage in 2008 and Madore said they chose to continue with the special assessment. Dunklee said in order to have thee special assessments there are certain requirements and he claims Richfield Township is not adhering to those. “Special assessment districts provide a unique benefit to a specific geographic location and that’s an important key,” he said. Dunklee said this limits police and fire doing anything outside the special assessment district, like community outreach and mutual aide.
