Security vendor SonicWall suffered a data breach that exposed customer firewall configuration file backups. Unidentified threat actors accessed backup firewall preference files stored in the cloud representing "fewer than 5% of our firewall install base," according to SonicWall. "We are not presently aware of these files being leaked online by threat actors," SonicWall said in its disclosure. For impacted customers, SonicWall created a dedicated containment, remediation, and monitoring guide. In addition, the spokesperson adds there is no evidence threat actors leveraged exposed data against impacted customers in attacks at this time.
