A voluntary arrangement for a Kirkland partner to have his ear piercedA Kirkland & Ellis partner has had his ear pierced in court after pledging to the judge that he would take the needle if a buyer was found for his bankrupt client. Joshua Sussberg, a restructuring partner in New York, was part of the Kirkland team advising the jewellery and accessories business Claire’s on its global restructuring, after it collapsed into administration last month. The judge remarked that his daughters also had their ears pierced at Claire’s. The restructuring partner had the piercing in 1995 at a Claire's in Florida:High school Sussberg: pre-law, post-earring. When Kirkland managed to find a proposed buyer, Sussberg kept his promise and had his left ear pierced in the courtroom by a Claire's staffer.
