One person was injured in a wreck at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday in East End, but no one was killed as claimed by false reports that circulated afterwards on social media, police said Sunday afternoon. The incident involved two vehicles, and one injured person was subsequently transported to the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to the Police Information Office. “Spreading unconfirmed reports can cause unnecessary alarm and distress within our community.”Police added that “official updates and verified information” are “always available” from their official press releases and verified social media accounts. “One person has received injuries and has been transported to [the hospital] for treatment,” they said. “The extent of her injuries are unknown at this time.”Police have not provided further updates on either incident.
