Bat captured in Providence tests positive for rabiesPROVIDENCE, R.I. (WLNE) — A rabid bat was discovered in Providence on Wednesday on Humboldt Avenue near Gladys Potter Park, according to the Rhode Island Department of Health. Providence animal control personnel captured the bat after reports that the animal was acting erratically. It was tested for rabies at a RIDOH lab where the positive result was registered.
