APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) – As part of 2025’s Fire Prevention Week campaign, the Appleton Fire Department (AFD) is reminding people of the potential risks that lithium-ion batteries pose, and have a electronics recycling event planned for next week. The campaign, dubbed “Charge into Fire Safety: Lithium-Ion Batteries in Your Home,” has AFD partnering with Dynamic Lifecycle Innovations to host a community electronics recycling event on Saturday, October 11. From phones to power tools, lithium-ion batteries are common throughout the average household; however, the risks they pose can be dangerous to people and homes. ThedaCare in Neenah showcases readiness for emergencies during mass-casualty drill“This family-friendly event offers residents a safe, responsible way to recycle old or broken electronics, raise awareness about lithium-ion battery safety, and support the Friends of AFD through optional donations,” stated AFD’s release. Loose batteries of any kind will not be accepted; however, accepted items include laptops, desktop computers, TVs, monitors, printers, tablets, and other common electronics.
