A vacant home at 1103 South 22nd Street was destroyed by fire Tuesday night, according to the Mt. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke pouring from all sides of the house and flames shooting out of the rear roof. The house, which had been unoccupied for about a year, had no active utilities at the time of the fire. Jefferson Fire provided mutual aid at the scene, while Kell and Waltonville firefighters stood by at the Mt. The fire call was received at 6:51 p.m. Tuesday, and firefighters remained on the scene for approximately two hours.
