Storm Amy has brought severe wind and rain across Ireland, forcing widespread cancellations and postponements across the sporting calendar. GAA fixtures, League of Ireland games, a major URC rugby match, and one of the country’s most popular marathons have all been affected by the weather. GAAMayo GAA has announced that all adult club fixtures scheduled for this weekend have been called off because of the storm. Mayo GAA chairperson Séamus Tuohy said that worsening weather conditions, combined with reports of unplayable pitches, left no other option. Storm Amy is set to continue bringing high winds and heavy rain throughout the weekend, and further changes to the sporting calendar remain likely.
