At the Satellite Center’s new career lab, students with special needs can practice essential career skills in office management, retail, manufacturing, production and computer technology. Students will use the Practice Assessment Exploration System Lab daily, with each session accommodating small groups of six to 12 students. Career support for students with special needs typically includes job coaching, help with resume building, and guidance on interview skills. She said the long-term goal is to connect the skills students practice in the lab with workplace experiences in the community. Hahnville High School students with special needs served breakfast to guests at the ceremony, Destrehan High School students with special needs designed ballon arrangements, and students representing both schools greeted guests.
