Key Facts Energy | 3 September 2025Eni launches forest restoration campaign in Côte d'IvoireEni announces the official launch of the tree-planting campaign under the Conservation & Restoration of Classified Forests (CRCF) project in the Massa-Mé forest, one of the 14 forests identified by the initiative.
This marks the operational start of a forest conservation and restoration project developed jointly with Ivorian institutions.
The project is part of the United Nations' REDD+ program – Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and Forest Degradation – which Côte d'Ivoire joined in 2011 to counteract the loss of its forest heritage.
Eni’s Baleine project in Côte d'Ivoire is the first net zero emission upstream project in Africa (Scope 1 and 2).
Eni has been present in Côte d'Ivoire since 2015 and has made the two largest hydrocarbons’ discoveries in the country, Baleine and Calao.
