Ethiopia’s coffee industry brought in USD 2.7 billion in revenue in the last fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Agriculture. In the 2024/25 fiscal year, production reached 1.2 million tons, with 467,000 tons exported. The minister said the Green Legacy Initiative, which involves planting large numbers of coffee seedlings, has contributed to higher output. Coffee is a source of income for more than 20 million Ethiopian farmers. According to the minister, these developments are providing farmers with better opportunities and may support Ethiopia’s efforts to increase its share in the global coffee market.
