Storm Amy sparks travel warning for north and west

Highland road maintenance firm, BEAR Scotland, says its teams are ready to tackle disruption on the trunk road network as Storm Amy hits the north and west this weekend.
The Met Office has issued an amber warning for wind from from 5pm Friday October 3 until 9am Saturday October 4, with heavy rain and gales expected.
Wet and windy conditions are expected to cause disruption across northern Scotland as Storm Amy closes in.
With the storm expected to arrive this afternoon, roadworks across the North West have been postponed, with new dates to follow.
Ian Wilson, BEAR Scotland’s Severe Weather Manager, said:“Storm Amy is expected to bring hazardous conditions across northern and western Scotland.
