Shafaqna English- The Philippines’ Department of Science and Technology–Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) has developed Halal-Certified cosmetics and personal care products, aiming to expand the country’s presence in the $47 billion global Halal cosmetics market, according to the Philippine Information Agency. The new line includes moisturizing lipstick, lip balm, plant-based skin-lightening soap, antibacterial toothpaste, hair-growth shampoo, and spa skincare essentials. Three products under the Shahin brand are already FDA-approved, Halal-Certified, and available in the market. All products passed international safety and Halal compliance tests, incorporating Filipino raw materials such as ylang-ylang, lemongrass, and calamansi. Officials say the initiative supports the Philippine Halal Export Development and Promotion Act of 2016 and could boost the economy while promoting local ingredients in international markets.
