DAR ES SALAAM: MIXX has expanded its digital financial services for cashew farmers in Mtwara to promote financial inclusion, simplify transactions and broaden access to agricultural markets.
Yas Director for the Coast South Zone, Ms Fadhila Saidi, said at the ‘Every Step Mixx’ launch that the services reach fishermen in Kilwa, small-business mothers in Mtwara Town and entrepreneurs at Mtwara Port, broadening access to digital tools that support regional livelihoods.
“By integrating mobile payments, savings tools and realtime market data, the initiative supports increased productivity and income generation for farmers cultivating Tanzania’s highvalue ‘brown gold’ as well as fishermen and entrepreneurs,” he said.
The launch event highlighted Mtwara’s growing prominence as a vital economic hub in the region.
He also said the initiative supports Mtwara Port as a key trade gateway to Malawi, Mozambique and Comoros, while the region’s beaches, historical sites and cultural heritage boost its tourism potential.
