Samuel Nartey GeorgeThe Majority Caucus on Parliament’s Communications and Information Committee has dismissed demands from the Minority for Communications Minister Sam George to resign or be dismissed by President Mahama over the ongoing controversy surrounding DStv subscription prices. “As members of the Majority Caucus of the Communications Committee, we recognise the Minority’s concerns. He argued that the minister had acted lawfully in his dealings with MultiChoice, operators of DStv, and had provided the leadership needed to stabilise the sector. The Majority wishes to place on record that these assertions are wholly unfounded and do not reflect the facts on the ground. According to the caucus, MultiChoice clarified that the supposed 30 percent reduction in DSTV prices was only a temporary promotion, not the outcome of negotiations.
