Coughlin was drafted by Florida, but went unsigned and elected to move to Maine rather than return to Rimouski. St-Denis was traded from Rimouski to Val-d’Or, but opted to join Clarkson. Poirier, a former 50-goal scorer in the QMJHL and a Carolina draft pick, was the only non-20-year-old in the QMJHL to make the jump stateside.
