AUTHORITIES HAVE WARNED of a “significant risk of flooding” and widespread disruption as Storm Amy sweeps across the country with gale-force winds and heavy rain. Storm Amy, the first named storm of the season, is currently set to deliver severe conditions into Saturday, with weather warnings remaining in place nationwide. Status Orange wind warnings are set to come into effect for six western counties at 2pm – Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo. In the north, an Amber wind warnings will be in place from 3pm in Antrim, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry. Storm Amy is causing some disruption to flight operations around Ireland & the UK today.
