Up until October 2025, the duties of the Archbishop were handled temporarily by a combination of senior bishops, including Dame Sarah Mullally, the Bishop of London. Dame Mullally’s links to south London run deep and shaped much of her professional and spiritual development. She went on to hold senior nursing roles at Westminster Hospital, Chelsea and Westminster, and The Royal Marsden Hospital. Alongside her NHS work, Mullally served as a non-executive director at London South Bank University and the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, as well as a lay member of the Council of King’s College London. Her ordained ministry also has strong roots in south London.
