A yellow weather warning for wind is due to come into force across 10 parts of Wales at 3pm on Friday.
The amber weather warning for Scotland was also updated and is now in place on Saturday.
The strong winds are also set to be accompanied by heavy rain.
The Met Office say Storm Amy is expected to develop rapidly as it approaches the UK on Friday.
