Following local concern at Ynysglas near Borth this week after the remains were found on the beach popular for its dunes Dyfed-Powys Police investigated.
The force has since confirmed the remains were not human as first feared.
A spokesman said: “Dyfed-Powys Police received a report that unidentified remains had been discovered on Ynyslas beach at around 4.40pm on Wednesday, October 1.
Specialists verified that they were not human remains.”The dog walker found what they thought was a human hand on the beach close to the pillbox and immediately notified the authorities.
