Swank Mami ushers in her new era with EP, ‘Worldstar’, due October 29th. Alongside the announcement, the Oslo-born, Somali musician shares her new single ‘PLZ’ – a febrile, hybrid anthem taking cues from Euro dance and the programmed RnB she grew up listening to. Speaking on the new single, Swank Mami says: “’PLZ’ is a really adventurous song for me. Swank Mami has since collaborated with Oscar Scheller (Shygirl, NewJeans, PinkPantheress), and gained the support of artists like Arca, Crystallmess, Zara Larsson, and Jim Legxacy, as well as fashion tastemaker brands Sandy Liang, GANNI and Poster Girl. Incoming EP ‘Worldstar’, mixed by Nathan Boddy (Mura Masa, PinkPantheress), sees Swank Mami open up her sound further, pulling patchwork inspiration from global, underground genres.
