Mr Sweeney, who was known in the community as wee Jimmy, tragically died two days later in hospital. McGinley, of Lennox Road, appeared at Dumbarton Sheriff Court on October 1, admitting to a single charge of causing the death by careless driving. “He describes being blinded by a flash of the sun, and he momentarily looked away from the road and failed to see Mr Sweeney crossing the road.
