The Sligo Leitrim and Northern Counties Railway (SLNCR) greenway, a proposed 75km traffic-free walking and cycling route connecting Enniskillen in Northern Ireland to Sligo in the Republic of Ireland, is now progressing to the route design stage following a recent public consultation. Brendan McKenna, senior executive engineer for the project at Leitrim County Council, said: "We are delighted to reach the next milestone of the Sligo to Enniskillen SLNCR greenway by publishing the preferred corridor. "We had important and engaging conversations during the public consultation where local people told us about their land and communities. Feedback from the consultation has informed the selection of the preferred corridor, which will now guide the development of detailed route options. Next week (from October 8), the preferred corridor will be available on the project website along with two new reports.
