On Thursday, Iran and Russia officially began implementing a 20-year comprehensive strategic partnership agreement, a pivotal move aimed at enhancing their bilateral relations.
It affirmed the commitment of Iran and Russia to uphold multilateralism and adhere to international law.
In May, Iran’s Parliament unanimously approved the treaty with Russia, following its ratification by Russia’s lower house of parliament in April.
According to the treaty, both nations are committed to mutual assistance in addressing shared security threats and participating in intelligence exchange.
Despite enduring substantial sanctions from Western nations, Iran and Russia have intensified their cooperation, reinforcing their status as close strategic allies across multiple sectors.
