TURTLE MOUNTAIN INDIAN RESERVATION — A wrongful death case has been filed in federal court by the father of Jordan Ray Parisien, a 32-year-old man who was fatally shot by a police officer last December.
The complaint, filed Sept. 12, says Jordan Parisien was shot by Bureau of Indian Affairs Police Officer Evan Parisien.
The shooting took place around 9:50 a.m. Dec. 29, on the Turtle Mountain Reservation.
A final autopsy report cited in the complaint says Jordan Parisien sustained four gunshot wounds — one to the back, two to the chest and one to the head.
It accuses Evan Parisien of shooting an unarmed person, failing to attempt de-escalation before resorting to deadly force.
