Renewable energy developer BayWa r.e. has announced that it has secured planning permission for its flagship battery energy storage system (BESS) project in Scotland. Section 36 planning consent has been granted for BayWa r.e.’s Redshaw BESS, located in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, after the company submitted a planning application for the project in March of this year. The Redshaw BESS will be constructed adjacent to Scottish Power Transmission’s planned 400/132kV Redshaw substation. Daniel Gäfke, COO at BayWa r.e., stated that the firm is “proud” to have secured planning consent for the project.
