Proposals for the Great North Road Solar and Biodiversity Park were submitted to the Planning Inspectorate on 27 June and accepted on 22 July 2025. The site will now enter the pre examination stage, which usually lasts for about three months. Due to the size of the project, brought forward by developer Elements Green, it is considered a nationally significant infrastructure project (NSIP). After extensive community consultation, Elements Green renamed the site to include reference to the extensive biodiversity measures that will come alongside the solar PV.
