A high school teacher in Thessaloniki has been sentenced to 10 months in prison, suspended for three years, for attending school in 2021 without presenting a negative COVID-19 self-test result, as mandated on the government’s “edupass.gov.gr” platform. The Single-Member Misdemeanor Court of Thessaloniki found the teacher guilty of disrupting the operation of a public service. During the trial, a colleague testified that the teacher had recently recovered from illness but returned to school without submitting the required negative test result. However, he went up to the teachers’ room and refused to leave, so I was forced to call the police,” she said. The local Education Directorate had previously imposed a suspension without pay as an administrative measure against the teacher.
