Texas congresswoman introduces bill to strip federal funds from sanctuary cities
[]
illegal Immigration Information, News, & Activism - General Discussion
Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R-TX) reintroduced the No Congressional Funds for Sanctuary Cities Act (H.R.
205) to strip federal funding from jurisdictions that limit cooperation with ICE and other immigration authorities.
The bill would block sanctuary cities from receiving federal funds, including Community Development Block Grants (CDBG), and recover any unspent federal funds given to those cities over the past five years.
Van Duyne argues that sanctuary policies undermine national security and public safety, aligning her position with President Donald Trump's immigration enforcement agenda.
She criticized Democratic city leaders for rejecting federal assistance and accused them of valuing political optics over addressing rising crime in their cities.
