Greece is strengthening its tourism ties with France, with Thessaloniki positioned as a premier city-break destination following high-level meetings at the IFTM – Top Resa 2025 tourism exhibition in Paris. Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni and Hellenic Tourism Organization President Angela Varela announced expanded cooperation with French carriers, including two additional weekly Transavia flights to Thessaloniki during the winter season. Further discussions were held with major French tour operators Thalasso N°1 and FRAM/Karavel to assess 2025 booking trends and outline 2026 strategic priorities. Minister Kefalogianni emphasized Greece’s focus on year-round tourism, highlighting Athens’ potential as a gateway to the Saronic Islands and the Athenian Riviera. The French market ranks as Greece’s fourth-largest in tourism revenue, showing continued growth in 2025 according to Bank of Greece data.
