According to a Bloomberg report, the company announced internally it’s moving engineers from the Vision Pro redesign project to accelerate development of AI smart glasses marking a major shift in how Apple approaches wearable tech. Instead, the company is betting on smart glasses that look more like Meta’s Ray-Ban collaboration than the bulky Vision Pro headset. Meta’s Ray-Ban smart glasses have sold 2 million units since October 2023, with sales tripling in the first half of 2025. Meanwhile, the Vision Pro hasn’t been the hit Apple hoped for, struggling with its $3,499 price tag and limited app selection. A second version with a built-in display is also in the works to compete with Meta’s newly released Ray-Ban Display glasses.
