The road near Newbridge was partly destroyed by a landslip in January 2021 when Storm Christoph tore across North Wales. In May 2022 the Welsh Government awarded £2.8m in funding to Wrexham Council to cover the cost of repairs. With Storm Amy looming, Wrexham Council has now announced the road will reopen on Saturday, October 4. “But beneath the surface, there’s a huge amount of work that’s taken place and some very complex engineering.
